The Montessori Institute is delighted to announce that the Graduate Diploma of Education (Montessori) 3-6 years and the Diploma of Education (Montessori) 0-3 and 3-6 years have both been re-assessed and re-approved as early childhood qualifications with the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) for a further 5 years until 2027.  This means that graduates of the Graduate Diploma of Education (Montessori) 3-6 may continue to be referred to as Early Childhood Teachers (ECT) in 3-6 classrooms* and childcare centres, and the Diploma of Education (Montessori) 0-3, 3-6 continues to allow graduates to work as assistants in schools, room leaders in childcare, or run their own family day care.  Those holding Bachelor of Education qualifications and teacher registration (primary) may, in conjunction with the Diploma, continue to be counted as the ECT**.

Furthermore, the Graduate Diploma of Education (Montessori) 3-6 and 6-12 focus has been re-assessed and re-approved as a teaching qualification with the Teacher Registration Board WA until 2027, and listed on the Australian Institute of Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) as an approved Initial Teacher Education (ITE) qualification.  This means that graduates from any state may continue to apply to their own teacher registration board for teacher registration.

The Montessori Institute continues our mission to ensure the sustainability of Montessori educators in Australian schools and centres, through Australian regulatory authority approved courses.
