Course Information
The Diploma in Montessori Studies 3-6 or 6-12 years
The course offers training in Montessori education. It is suitable for qualified teachers, educators and assistants who do not require an accredited course.
The Diploma in Montessori Studies 3-6 or 6-12 years prepares candidates with the knowledge and understanding of the Montessori philosophy and approach, as well as the specific Montessori curriculum, for the primary years.
Please note: This is not an accredited course and will not give you teacher registration.
Course Structure
The Course is divided into five modules.
- One Theory Module
- Four Montessori Curriculum Modules
- 21 Workshop Days
Full-time study is one introductory and then completion of two curriculum modules each semester. Modules consist of Intensive Block Workshops, Assignments, Professional experience, which may be undertaken in your own school, Observations or Practical Activities and Materials/Resources (activities to be made or practised with).
Study Timeframe
The Diploma in Montessori Studies 3-6 or 6-12 years course is studied over 18 months to 2 years full-time or four years part-time.
- Theory and Curriculum Modules - 1000 hours
- Professional Experience - 140 hours
Admissions
ADMISSIONS POLICY:
Students may enrol in this course at any time of the year. Application to the program is through direct application to the Institute and is dependent upon formal assessment of the following:
- Minimum entry requirement-Teacher Registration or relevant professional qualification for employment.

The Montessori Institute is committed to recognising previous studies and other relevant prior learning that contributes towards satisfying requirements for its courses. Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) is an integral part of our service and everyone is entitled to apply. For further information contact the Enrolment Officer info@mwei.edu.au. Applicants will be advised of the cost of tuition fees and further work to be completed.
